This seaside destination offers 23 miles of uncrowded beaches, one of California's longest and widest stretches of beach. Visitors have plenty of activities to choose from in and around the beach. Take a long pleasant stroll along the miles of beautiful clean beaches, and explore caves, coves and tide pools, or enjoy the views from the award-winning boardwalk. Spend the day fishing off the 1200 ft pier. If you are interested in wildlife, you might enjoy whale watching, viewing dolphins, sea otters, sea lions or the large colonies of giant elephant seals. A must see for the nature lover is the Monarch Butterfly Grove where you can see the "Butterfly Trees" of Pismo Beach. Activities offered in the area include camping, fishing, horseback riding, ATV riding on the dunes, golfing, surfing and body boarding. Within a short drive of Pismo Beach, you can visit local wineries, state parks, the historic Hearst Castle or drive south a bit and visit Solvang, the "Danish Capital of America". Lodging is plentiful in the area, with choices ranging from RV parks and campgrounds to hotels and beachfront resorts.
